Silicone Oil Atomization Spray Chambers
The Silicone Atomization Spray Chamber was designed for use by the Medical Device Industry for coating a variety of medical devices with a precise, repeatable, small volume of medical grade silicone oil. The spray chamber allows the user to execute the coating process using a non-hazardous method, while maintaining a clean environment. The system combines a high quality precision liquid metering system combined with McClellan Automation Systems' process utilizing vacuum, sensing, controls and fluid management, housed in an enclosure appropriate for the medical manufacturing environment.
The silicone atomization spray system is a semi-automated benchtop instrument with simple operator controls. When the operator turns the system on with a lit toggle switch on the front of the unit, the instrument initiates a reset routine to automatically prime the nozzle. A green LED will indicate that the unit is ready to process/spray a part.
After the operator places a part into the nest, the system automatically senses the part and atomizes a swirling mist of medical grade silicone oil. The custom tooling designed for each part is keyed to the product geometry to ensure proper coating, seating, and orientation. Following the spray cycle, a vacuum system activates to evacuate the excess over-spray. The over-spray is collected in an externally mounted waste reservoir. When the spray cycle is complete, the green LED indicates that the part is ready to be removed.
Materials both hydrophobic and hydrophilic have been successfully sprayed with this system.
The system and technology are compatible for full automation systems.
